I wanted to experiment with painting an image that was blurry, with a focus being on the lighting and overall warmth of an atmosphere as opposed to specific forms and subjects. I wanted to portray the feeling of “home” particularly as it is usually not a place, but the people who transform a room into home. I used the grid method to create my sketch for this piece, and I left a bit of my pencil grid in the top right corner, visible under only a thin wash of paint. The area with the most paint directly opposite on the right hand bottom corner. I did this because I wanted to experiment with the idea of creating a memory fading with time, with parts of it fading and blurry and the faces out of focus.
